Michael Ryan Fly your flags!!

Having just returned from Drupa, I noticed the great meeting tents they had for Russian Printers......what i like about FESPA is we are a community and during our shows there are always so many great gatherings of countries....everybody remembers the slovak and swedish parties on the fespa stand in Berlin!....Life is so busy these days, that we never get to meet up with colleagues and just simply enjoy our industry and meet printers, distributors and associations from our own countries......we a… Continue

Marko Mitrovic Trendy

Following trends of the world printing industry, South-East Europe region usually called "Balkan" has recorded great growth and expanding in last few years. In contrary to the rest of Europe where big markets for sign making already existed, Balkan region started from the point zero. Former Yugoslav countries who suffered technological latency due to political situations in region finally got open to receive new demands and chance to grow. Even the technology was somewhere present in last 20 yea… Continue

Sophie Matthews-Paul Reading between the lines . . .

The first thing most people do when they start investigating a new bit of a kit is to hunt about on the Internet and find the specification. Very often, when it’s absolutely brand spanking new, information is scant and all that can be relied on is news in the trade press or the manufacturer’s own description of its latest collection of bells and whistles. Sophie Matthews-Paul Better late than . . .

It seemed a splendid idea to start a blog – and then I promptly ran out of time to do anything with it. As if life isn’t busy enough already, now we’ve got Drupa on the horizon. The wide-format questions are being asked (and read Tim Greene’s message on The Wide Network on http://widenetwork.ning.com/) about whether Düsseldorf will host the exhibition which will “turn the market on its head”. Well . . . having visited FESPA Digital Printing Europe, as well as local shows, recently my answer to… Continue

Marcus Timson I don’t always know what I want! Rant number 2…(sung to the tune of “you don’t always get what you want”)

I don't think I am particularly unusual. A little eccentric maybe. But I am motivated. I want to perform at the highest possible level and I want to succeed. I get excited about ideas and will invest in a new idea that inspires me, my customers and colleagues. The problem is that I don’t always know what I want! A supplier of mine recently said to me “I can do whatever you want”. In response to this bold statement, I should have said, “Why don’t you strip off and try Morris dancing to Motorhead’… Continue

Marcus Timson Environment - A convenient truth

It is a crazy, beautiful world we live in. It is full of contradictions. On the one hand governments and the EU want us to be entrepreneurial and dynamic and on the other hand we are expected to be socially responsible and environmentally friendly. But I, like most modern people, am a believer in positive aspects of environmental best practice. The biggest problem I have with the whole thing is that it is poorly marketed. The whole thing says to me “this is going to be a lot of hard work”. And… Continue
